Experience
I attended Temple University, where I earned my BA in Criminal Justice, and went on to spend ten years as a police officer. I then decided I wanted to help people in a different way, and am now working on my master's in Education. I enjoy tutoring all sorts of classes in the math and science arenas. The way these two subjects work together to explain how the world and nature works, and how everything around us works, intrigues me, and I am able to instill that fascination in most of my students. As I watch them learn and make the connections for the first time, and hit that a-ha moment where they understand something they thought was impossible, I feel a kind of pride and satisfaction in having helped them reach that point. I am not narrow in my tutoring. I work with students, making sure they understand the lessons they need to for class, but making it more interesting by expanding that subject into the world, into the child's life, so they are not only engaged, but actually enjoy the process of learning. In addition to children, I have experience tutoring math and science at a nearby community college.
